Two Industries, Two Reasons to Care About the Stack

Welding transformers live a hard life. They are pushed into short-circuit-like loads during strike and arc, repeatedly surge far beyond rated current, and run in workshops with conductive dust and spatter in the air. A core with an uneven stack or a bruised lamination coating develops hot spots under that duty, and the transformer that was fine on day one starts tripping thermal protection in month six.

Elevator control transformers fail differently: they fail quietly. They sit in a machine room untouched for years, supplying control, door operator and brake circuits, and their reliability is only tested when someone is inside the car. A loose stack that buzzes or drifts in air gap shows up as intermittent control faults that are expensive to trace, because no one suspects the transformer first.

The EI-85 addresses both by removing operator judgement from the stack: every lamination is placed, counted and compressed the same way, from the first core of a batch to the thousandth.

With a bobbin window of about 28 mm, the EI-85 serves the 280-600 VA band: welding machine and inverter welding control transformers, elevator and escalator control transformers, machine tool control power supplies, and general industrial isolation transformers. Cardboard and plastic bobbins are both supported. The unit runs as a standalone station or inline with winding and varnishing, and its touch screen stores a separate recipe for each core size so a mixed catalogue does not turn into a changeover bottleneck.
